Losing teeth changes more than your bite.
Missing teeth alter how you speak, what you are willing to eat in company, and often how you feel about being photographed. Dentures deal with all three, provided they fit properly — which is mostly a matter of the impressions and the adjustments rather than the material.
Whether it is a couple of gaps or a whole arch, we will work out what will actually be comfortable to wear.
What a denture is
A removable replacement for missing teeth, made to fit your own mouth. The range is wider than most people expect, from everyday acrylic through to slimmer chrome cobalt and flexible designs.
We make them on the NHS and privately, using current techniques and materials so the fit feels natural and the result looks like it belongs.
The types we make
Four options, and the right one depends on how many teeth are left and what they are like.
Full Dentures
A full denture replaces every tooth in the upper or lower jaw, usually in acrylic, shaped to sit against the gum and hold by suction.

Whether you are replacing a whole arch now or planning ahead of extractions, this is the most straightforward route.
Partial Dentures
Where some natural teeth remain, a partial fills the gaps and — just as importantly — stops the remaining teeth drifting into them.
- Acrylic, metal, or both together
- Held by clasps or precision attachments
- Keeps your own teeth where they should be
- Available on the NHS
A good long-term option in its own right, and a sensible stepping stone if implants are a decision for later.
Flexible Dentures
Made from a soft thermoplastic that flexes slightly with the shape of your mouth rather than sitting rigid against it.
- Light, and quick to get used to
- No metal clasps showing
- Kinder to sensitive gums and uneven ridges
- Private treatment
The usual choice for patients who have found a rigid partial uncomfortable.
Chrome Cobalt Dentures
A slim cast cobalt-chromium framework. Considerably thinner than acrylic, and far stronger for the thickness.

- Very stable, anchored to your own teeth
- Most people adapt quickly
- Private treatment
The one to choose if you want a partial you stop noticing.
How the appointments run
- First visit — what you want from them, what your mouth will support, and which type makes sense.
- Impressions — taken carefully, because the fit is decided here more than anywhere else.
- Try-in — a wax version, so bite and appearance can be checked and changed before anything is finished.
- Fitting — the finished dentures placed, adjusted and reviewed.
- Aftercare — how to clean them, how to store them, and when to come back.
Looking after them
Dentures need cleaning as much as teeth do, just differently:
- Brush them daily with a denture brush and a mild cleanser, not toothpaste
- Soak them overnight
- Never use hot water — it warps the acrylic
- Come back for reviews; gums change shape and a denture that fitted last year may not now
Five to ten years is typical before they want remaking.
NHS or private?
On the NHS
Acrylic full and partial dentures are available on the NHS at the Band 3 rate. Hard-wearing and perfectly serviceable — the trade-off is bulk and a more limited choice of design.
Privately
Chrome cobalt and flexible designs are private. They are slimmer, more stable and generally more comfortable to wear day to day.
